Candidate Election Expenses
| Following an election,
each official agent of a candidate is required to file a report
of election expenses on behalf of their candidate in prescribed
form accompanied by an affidavit, audit report and supporting
invoices and receipts. The filing deadline for these reports for the
October 20, 2009, Antigonish By-Election is December 29, 2009. All
expense report filings receive a detailed compliance review by the
Chief Electoral Officer. It is a statutory obligation of the Chief
Electoral Officer to be satisfied that expenses reported are election
expenses as defined in the Elections Act and were incurred within the
authorized time frame before full reimbursement from public funds is
paid to candidates entitled to receive reimbursement. Election expenses
of candidates are published soon after filing with the Chief Electoral
Officer following an election. Candidate election expenses relating
to the October 20, 2009, Antigonish By-Election as originally filed and
published, and as adjusted by the Chief Electoral Officer, if
that occurred, are posted below. |
