Canadian Forces away on Duty
If you are a member of the Canadian Forces who is qualified to vote and who will be away on duty on election day, you can still vote by using a Write-in Ballot. In order to be qualified to vote, you must be a Canadian citizen who will be 18 years of age or over on election day and have lived in Nova Scotia at least six months before the date the election was called.
To request a Write-in Ballot, click here for the application. Send your completed application along with copies of valid proof of identity and residence to the Returning Office for your ordinary-residence electoral district. If you do not know which returning office is yours, ask your Liaison Officer for help.
On the form:
Under Civic/Location Address, use the address of the place where you were living when the election was called, or where
you will live when you return from duty. This address will determine which electoral district you are in.
Under Mailing Address, write in the address and name of your ship or the place where you are posted. We will send your Write-in Ballot to this address.
