List of Electors
If your name is already on the List of Electors (also known as the voters list), you will receive a Voter Information Card (formerly called a Notice of Confirmation) in the mail about two weeks after the election is called. This card will tell you the date of the election, which polling division you are in, and the location of your polling station. It will also tell you about Advance and Special Poll voting, and the Write-in Ballot.
It’s a good idea to keep your Voter Information Card in a safe place and bring it with you to the polling station.
How did you get on the List in the first place?
One of Elections Nova Scotia’s biggest jobs is maintaining the List of Electors. We did a province-wide
enumeration in 2005 to get a good base List and have been working on it ever since. Every month new Canadian citizens
are sworn in who can be added to the List; young Canadians reach their 18th birthday and are eligible to vote; some
people die and must be removed from the list; others move within their electoral district, to another district, or into
or out of the province.
Our job is to make it as easy as possible for you to find your polling station and cast your vote. That’s why we strive to keep the List of Electors current and accurate.
How can I check to see if I'm on the List of Electors or that my information is current? See the Frequently Asked Questions.
